KwaDukuza Technical (Stanger FET) College (Pty) Ltd has been in operation since 2002. It started at home with an enrolment of 3 students with National Examinations being written at accredited centres in Durban and Stanger.
With the increasing popularity of the N-courses (Engineering) among students and industries it was decided by S. Thotha and Mrs J.Thotha to establish Stanger FET College which was registered as a CC in 2004 with them as directors.
Mr Thotha’s involvement with the N-courses goes back to 1976 when he lectured Mathematics to full and part-time students at Stanger M.L.Sultan Secondary School.
He holds a B.Sc degree (Unisa) with Psychology as one of his major subjects. In addition, he holds qualifications in Statistics, Information Systems and Economics. He graduated with a three year Teaching Diploma from SCE in Durban.
He is an author of user friendly study guides/textbooks in Mathematics (N1-N4). Mrs J.Thotha, a holder of National Diploma (Electrical)-trade tested lectured Mathematics, Engineering Science and EIectrotechnics(N1 — N6) at a college in Durban from 1999. Prior to this, she held a few administrative posts.
In 2010 the college name was amended to “Stanger Further Education and Training college (Pty) Ltd” with CIPC and forwarded for provisional registration with DHET (Department of Higher Education and Training).
In 2011 the college was granted provisional accreditation by UMALUSI (Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training).
In 2013 the college was granted provisional accreditation by QCTO (Quality Council for Trades and Occupations). On the 3’d April 2018 this was converted to FULL Accreditation.
In March 2013 the college was awarded National Examination status by DHET. The National Examination Centre Number is 599995584.
The change of name to “KwaDukuza Technical College (Pty) Ltd” was approved by the Registrar for Private College on 12 November 2018. We had complied with regulation 1.3(1) of Regulations for the Registration of Private Further Education and Training Colleges (2007) and with section 36 of the Continuing Education Training Act No.16 of 2006.
KwaDukuza Technical joined the list of elite private college on 01 April 2018. When it was accredited by UMALUSI under the old process. Not only was this process more demanding but it was longer than the new one. The college received two certificates indicating the 20 accredited subjects.
In 2019 the college was granted full registration by DHET.
Many of our students are employed locally and provincially some nationally and a few internationally in the field of Engineering. Most of them have obtained Higher Certificates and Engineering Diplomas, some have graduated as Engineers.
